GT Series Troubleshooting Guide

This guide shows solutions to frequently asked questions and common problems that users may encounter while using Noritake GT series modules. If your problem is not addressed on this page, please fill out the contact form on the bottom of this page or call your local Noritake sales representative for support.
Common Problems
GT-VP Series

Problem: The display will not power up.

Possible Cause
The power connector might not be plugged in. This module does not support power over USB.

Solution
Plug a proper power connector into CN7 (GT800X480A-1303P) or CN2 (GT1280X800A-1303P) .

Problem: The right-side of the display doesn’t show up.
-
Possible Cause
The host controller doesn’t support Extended Display Identification Data (EDID).
Or, the configuration file may specify a different screen resolution.-
Solution
If the video signal is not displaying correctly when using a Raspberry Pi or similar single board computer, please add this configuration line to the board’s config.txt file.
hdmi_cvt 800 480 60 6 0 0 0
Upon reboot, the video signal will change to fit the display’s resolution.

Problem: The display doesn’t show anything.

Possible Cause
The DVI protocol may not have established a connection with the display module.

Solution
Cycle power on the GT-VP display module.

Problem: Unable to communicate with GT module’s command set interface on Linux.
-
Possible Cause
No device driver, path or library is in place to establish proper communication with the GT module’s command set interface.

Solution
Multiple solutions are available:

GT-CP Series
-
Problem: The display will not power up.
-
Possible Cause
The power connector might not be plugged in. This module does not support power over USB when JP1 is open.

Solution
Plug a proper power connector.

Problem: Noritake GU-TFT (V-COM) communication driver does not respond.
-
Possible Cause
This can happen when using different GT-CP modules with the V-COM driver. The driver may not see that a different GT-CP module has been connected.

Solution
Reset the communication port mapping using GTOMP with “Tool > Reset VCOM USB Mapping”.

Solution
Reset the communication port mapping using the “reset_vcom_usb_mapping.bat” found at “C:\Program Files (x86)\Noritake Itron\USB_VCOM_drivers”.

Possible Cause
If VCOM driver has just been installed. The host PC may need to be restarted.

Solution
Restart the host PC.

GT-EP Series
-
Problem: The display will not power up.
-
Possible Cause
The power connector might not be plugged in. This module does not support power over USB. (the GT480X272A-E100P can support power over USB if J26 is closed)

Solution
Plug a proper power connector.

Problem: I can’t run the demo program on the display module.
-
Possible Cause
The demo program may be configured for a different display.
-
Solution
Check the name of the demo program. tw800a.mnu is compatible with GT800X480A-E100P and tw480a.mnu is compatible with GT480X272A-E100P.

Problem: My GT-EP module does not show up in the iDevTFT device list.
-
Possible Cause
The module driver has not been installed.

Solution
In iDevTFT, click on “USB Transfer > Install USB Driver” to install the driver. You may need to restart your PC before the driver is properly configured.
