Noritake VFD: Readability Part 1 - Viewing Angle E-MTR-0001-00 http://www.noritake-elec.com Objective: To compare the difference in viewing angle between the VFD module and LCD Displays used: - VFD module: CU20025-UW1J http://www.noritake-elec.com/uversion... - LCD: HDM20216L Results: When rotating horizontally, LCD starts to gets harder to see around 45° and barely see anything on the LCD around 65°. VFD module had no problem reading the display content when rotating from side to side. When rotating down, LCD starts to gets harder to see around 30° and barely see anything on the LCD around 45°. Then rotating up, the LCD becomes harder to read from 40° to 45°. VFD module had no problem reading the display content when rotating up and down.

Noritake color filters used: - Smoked Gray: SG N21 - Blue: BL N6401 - Aqua: AQ N891 - Rose: RO N66 - Green: GR N651 Results: - Smoked Gray: Emits blue-green color and increases the contrast ratio. - Blue: Emits blue color and increases the contrast ratio. - Aqua: Emits Aqua color and increases the contrast ratio. - Rose: Emits Rose color and increases the contrast ratio. - Green: Emits Green color and increases the contrast ratio.

Ghosting is especially noticeable when scrolling or the display is constantly updating. VFD module is unaffected.

Results: Both CU200211-TE200A (top) and CU20029-UW1J (bottom) was easy to read from 3 ft to 5 ft. Once the distance was between 10 to 15 ft. The 2 mm character height difference made CU200211-TE200A easier to read from 10 ft to 15 ft.
